Our laboratory has been testing polyester materials as a replacement for fibreglass in acoustic quilts and sound absorptive panels. The results so far have been very encouraging.
A polyester material was discovered, that, not only had superior absorptive properties to fiberglass but it did not have the key disadvantage associated with the material. The polyester material does not have the irritating particles of fiberglass which means it is suitable for environments where hygiene and air quality is important or environments that are particularly susceptible to contaminants such as the food or pharmaceutical industries.
Ventac tested a range of polyester materials as part of this program both for sound absorption and sound insulation to build up a comparative database with existing data on conventional materials and results recorded returned were very positive indeed.
