Factory Noise Control

Ventac’s Building & Industrial Noise Control sector specialises in the design, supply and installation of noise control solutions for existing builds such as industrial processing and manufacturing facilities.

As the leading provider of factory noise control solutions in Ireland, our solutions are developed as specified products or custom-manufactured solutions, that are designed to offer exceptional acoustic performance.

Factory noise control is generally introduced to address environmental noise pollution concerns, protect Noise Sensitive Locations (NSL), ensure compliance with EPA licenses, to protect employee health and to increase factory safety and productivity.

Noise Problem Sources & Identification

Ventac’s capabilities include providing acoustic support from the noise assessment stage, straight through to design, specification and installation. We ensure that our solutions are tailored to address the key noise issues of our clients, as well as being bespoke designed to suit access and management concerns.

When considering acoustic solutions for factory noise applications, Ventac’s expertise are capable of addressing key issues such as:

  • Separating and protecting workers and excessive in-plant noise levels
  • Identifying and isolating noisy machinery, plant equipment and other contributing noise sources
  • Identifying and solving sources of environmental noise pollution, including noise complaints
  • Conducting acoustic assessments and developing bespoke acoustic solutions
  • Validation of all other soundproofing applications

Ventac services include a full acoustic assessment of our customers site to identify they key noise sources and to establish a Noise Reduction Plan that takes into consideration the needs and demands of our customers.

Key Issues with Factory Noise

A range of factors can have an effect on the noise levels of manufacturing applications and can contribute to the overall noise levels. Industrial processes are generally made up of a number of noise sources including; vibrating panels, fans, air-flow, impact processes, engines, processers and other manufacturing equipment.

Additionally, the type of industry the manufacturing belongs to can again depend on the noise levels generated; for example quarries, mines, drilling or applications that require equipment or machine tools for cutting, punching, pressing or grinding.

How the noise is controlled is dependent on the source. For example, external noise caused by HVAC units or process pumps is assessed and treated differently to internal noise sources such as plant machinery. Similarly, air-borne and structure-borne noise sources are assessed and treated in different ways.

Production floors in their nature are often also complex. This is due to the range of noise sources and how they travel through the factory floor. The propagation of sound through the air or through equipment structures causes both air-borne and structure-borne noise to reflect from boundaries such as the floor, wall, celling and machinery. Generally these are hard surfaces that cause the noise to reflect, which offers little acoustic absorption in preventing the additional build-up of noise.

The design of tailor-made noise control solutions that are effective in such applications require specialist expertise to ensure the required noise levels are achieved.

Identifying Noise Control Solutions

Identifying the noise at its source is the most effective means of noise control.

Because of the variety of contributing noise sources on factory floors, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Understanding the type of noise (ie. structural or air-borne noise) requires a tailored solution to ensure an effective solution is identified.

Ventac’s process starts with an acoustic assessment of the factory site to identify the key noise issues. These can include both internal and external noise sources. This is followed by solution design, product specification that target excessive noise levels.

  1. Acoustic Testing & Assessment

A full noise assessment of the factory is conducted within normal operating conditions in order to determine the exact noise problems and their source

  1. Solution Design & Engineering Support

Ventac manufacture and design bespoke solutions that target the specific needs of each application. Because we define the solution straight through from assessment to validation, our customers can be ensure that they are receiving the most effective noise control solution. Tailored to suit their specific requirements.

  1. Installation Services

Ventac both supply and install to our customers to provide a full turnkey solution. Our experience in the field also gives our customers confidence that they are receiving the best service with high-performance outcome
