COVID-19 INNOVATION OVERVIEW

COVID-19 Innovation Overview

Ventac is excited to announce that we have officially launched our noise consultation mobile app for iPhone. The name of our app is ‘Ventac’, and the app provides our customers with responsive remote access to our team of experienced acoustic experts.  This will help our customers to stay on-plan and on-performance with their vehicle development projects.

Due to the restrictive nature of the physical-distancing measure adopted to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, conventional site-visits by Ventac’s acousticians to OEM’s sites came to an abrupt halt. These frequent client site visits generally include full vehicle checks, in-situ acoustic measurements, noise assessment and prescriptive noise-abatement actions on OEM
vehicles including forklifts, trucks, buses, coaches, dump-trucks, etc.

Faced with the new challenge of remote data acquisition, assessment, and analysis of acoustic data from our OEM’s vehicles, Ventac’s Innovation Team came up with a solution to tackle the difficulties involved in carrying out the aforementioned tasks. This, without compromise to the quality of noise assessment and analysis usually carried out on these vehicles. With this, the Acoustic team, in conjunction with the Innovation team, presents the Ventac Acoustics App together with the iTest2 Microphone for the adequate recording and analysis of acoustic data from our OEMs.

The app will enable customers to make good quality acoustic measurements of their vehicles using the accuracy of a Class II, externally connected microphone. The noise measurement will be shared directly with the Ventac technical team for expert level analysis, and feedback to the customer on appropriate next steps.

The service can be used to deliver early understanding of problem noises, to receive status reports on vehicle noise throughout the development cycle, and to help diagnose remote in-service field concerns.

Other than the remotely-used capability of the Ventac App and its associated calibrated Class II iTest2 Microphone, other benefits of this integrated system include:

  • High-quality acoustic data measured by client-OEMs
  • Easy-to-use device features for clients with no prior experience or   training
  • Acoustic data sent directly to Ventac’s acousticians for remote analysis
  • Noise solutions subsequently prescribed remotely to client OEMS

The new procedure for the data acquisition, analysis, and presentation of our OEM’s vehicle noise include the following:
1. Acoustic Classification of OEM’s Vehicle
-Type of vehicle to be assessed and acoustically treated
-Level of noise-level to be met
2. Acoustic Data Acquisition and Analysis by OEM and Ventac
-Measurement device sent out to client-OEM
-Noise measured by client and data sent to Ventac
-Data files downloaded and stored remotely by Ventac
     -Acoustic analysis performed on data
3. Identification of Noise Issue(s)
-Examination of spectral components of noise sources
-Detection of noise sources including; hydraulics, engines, pumps, etc.
4. Recommendations and Prescription of Noise Solutions to OEM
     -Specification of noise treatment options
-Bespoke acoustic solutions and material sent out to clients for fittings
5. Project Round-up and Process Completion with detailed engineering drawings for components produced by Ventac

We hope that our customers will find the app a positive offering to aid the development of their vehicles, particularly during this time of restricted global travel.

Ventac offers a full range of acoustic consultancy services and sound testing throughout Ireland, UK, Europe, Turkey, US and Benelux Markets.
