ACOUSTIC IMAGING
The Ventac acoustic team offers support and expertise in acoustic imaging applications to its vast range of international customers across the transport and industrial sectors.
The benefits of these applications are as follows;Â
- Improvement in production-line reliability
- Express noise source identification
- Reduction in energy costs
- Ease of noise source identification and operation in harsher environments
- Robust acoustic application in confined spaces
- Speed and accuracy of noise detection in noisy environments
- Reduction in utility costs
- Reduction in leak time detection etc.
The beam-forming method employed by our acoustic imaging equipment includes a technique of noise localisation and quantification which is used in ranking and quantifying individual noise sources in both vehicle and industrial applications. This approach aids in prompt detection, frequency isolation, and consequent exploration of solutions in noisy environments with multiple noise sources, or relatively high background noise. Â

Acoustic Imaging Equipment
Our acoustic imaging equipment also enables a robust ultrasonic condition monitoring process of rapid detection and classification of faults in breakers, scan hoses, fitting, capacitors, switch gears, high voltage lines, etc., where conventional instrumentation is not very ineffective in the frequency ranges. This in turn reduces costs, increases lifetime & reliability, by improving the operational and management costs of these vehicle and industrial components and systems, thus specifically impacting efficiency and yield, reliability, and maintenance costs. A recent application of acoustic imaging by our team was in the detection of ultrasonic air-leak in an industrial milk processing plant, where air-leakage in a welded-joint was identified after an acoustic-sweep of the plant. The detected leakage, as shown in the Figure, which was subsequently scheduled for repair results in the loss of significant operation capability, and increased utility bills in the section of the plant.    Other recent application of the acoustic imaging by the team, especially in the vehicle sector, includes the detection of creaks and rattles from industrial, commercial and agricultural vehicles in a wide range of frequency components.
